Viral Video Sparks Outragea As Nigeria Police Condemns Officers for Taking CashFrom  Chinese National, Orders Immediate Disciplinary Action

Abuja, Nigeria- The Nigeria Police Force has launched disciplinary action against some of its officers after a video showing them receiving cash from a Chinese national went viral, drawing widespread condemnation from the public.

The footage, which surfaced on social media earlier this week, captured uniformed police officers collecting what appeared to be bribe money from a foreign national, prompting a swift response from the Force Headquarters.

In a statement issued on Thursday, the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, described the conduct as “unprofessional and unethical,” stressing that it does not reflect the values or standards of the Nigeria Police Force.

According to the statement, the officers involved in the incident have already been identified and are currently undergoing internal disciplinary procedures.

The Nigeria Police Force also used the opportunity to caution individuals, corporate bodies, and organizations that engage police personnel for private services—including escorts and guards—against any behavior that could degrade the professionalism of officers or tarnish the image of the institution.

“We caution individuals and organizations privileged to the services of police personnel to desist from acts capable of degrading the integrity of our officers or bringing the Force into disrepute,” ACP Adejobi added.

The viral video has stirred public concern over the ethical conduct of law enforcement officers and the larger issue of police accountability in Nigeria.
