Bandit Disguised As Beggar In Kwara Community As Kwara South Security Intensifies Crackdown

The suspect was caught disguising himself as a beggar in Igbaja.

Ilorin, Kwara State – A suspected bandit disguised as a beggar was arrested in Igbaja, Ifelodun Local Government Area, on Tuesday evening.

Elder Oyin Zubair, Coordinator of the Joint Security Watch for Kwara South Senatorial District, confirmed to Afrika Eyes on Wednesday that intelligence led to the arrest, exposing a new tactic employed by criminals in the area.

“The suspect was caught disguising himself as a beggar in Igbaja,” Elder Zubair said.

He explained that they have received intelligence that some bandits have fled Baba Sango after realising that their informants posing as beggars were being tracked while they were roaming towns and villages across Kwara South.

According to the coordinator, bandits from Baba Sango and Oro-Ago are spreading to other parts of the senatorial district, using disguises to avoid detection.

“He disguises as a beggar in a place that I saw. Maybe as a madman somewhere too. They can do it,” Elder Zubair noted.

The arrested suspect revealed the locations of his sponsors, who are reportedly operating from Kaara Market, Ajasepo, and Olayinka near Oke-Ode.

Following his arrest, the suspect was handed over to the state’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad (AKS) for further investigation.
