Army Neutralises Top Boko Haram Commander, Arrests Suspected Drone Supplier In Adamawa

The confrontation led to the death of Abdullahi Mafa, a former hybrid commander in the insurgent group, who had been responsible for several attacks in the region.

Yola, Adamawa State – Troops of Operation HADIN KAI, working closely with local vigilantes and hunters, have dealt a blow to Boko Haram in Adamawa State, neutralising a top commander and arresting a suspected drone and logistics supplier in separate coordinated operations.

Afrika Eyes gathered that at about 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, troops engaged suspected Boko Haram fighters in an ambush along the Visik River line in Madagali Local Government Area.

The confrontation led to the death of Abdullahi Mafa, a former hybrid commander in the insurgent group, who had been responsible for several attacks in the region.

Security expert Zagazola Makama confirmed that later in the evening, at around 6:30 p.m., the troops raided Madagali Motor Park, arresting 64-year-old Dauda Usman Gubula, a suspected Boko Haram collaborator and supplier of drone technology.

Officials disclosed that the raid yielded two aerial drones and 20 solar power banks, believed to have been intended for terrorist operations.

Gubula is currently in custody undergoing investigation, while the military says it is intensifying operations to dismantle Boko Haram networks and restore security in Madagali and surrounding areas.
