Police Neutralize 3 Notorious Kidnappers, Arrest 9 Others In Kwara

The Victim identified one of the suspects as one of his abductors.

Men of the Kwara State police Command have neutralized three suspected kidnappers and arrested two of them in Bode Sadu, Moro local government of the State.

Speaking with journalists in Ilorin on Monday, the state commissioner of Police, Paul Odama, said the suspected kidnappers were in the bush along the Balogun area, Bode Sadu and their hideout in a thick forest at Eiyekorin.

According to him, “The DPO Mobilized Vigilantees, hunters and policemen, stormed the bush and they engaged the kidnappers, during an exchange of gunfire, three of the kidnappers were neutralized while two suspects Lagi Bala “M” and Iliasu Idris “M” were arrested with 3 locally made guns.

The arrested suspects confessed to being kidnappers and cattle rustlers. They also confessed to being responsible for the series of kidnapping cases in the Malete and Shao areas of Kwara State.

He gave the names of the neutralized members of the gang as Bala Idris ”M”, Hassan Idris “M”, and Baso Idris “M”.

Mr. Odama said Investigation is ongoing to arrest the remaining members of the kidnapping gang, while the two arrested suspects would be charged in court as soon as the investigation is concluded.

” Similarly, on 21/1/2023 at about 1400HRS, the divisional police officer of Eiyenkorin Division, with vigilante and local hunters in carrying out the directive of the commissioner of police regarding a zero tolerance for kidnapping, stormed the Eiyenkorin thick forest to search the hide-outs of kidnappers.

The commissioner of Police in the State said, while exchanging shooting with the suspected kidnappers in the bush, some suspects escaped with bullet injuries, while some were arrested.

“At about 1600HRS of 21/01/2023, information was received that one suspected Fulani man was seen with bullet wounds inside the bush within Eiyenkorin, policeman traced and arrested the suspect.

During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of a kidnapping syndicate that specializes in kidnapping people around the Eiyenkorin oko-olowo axis.

He mentioned one Alhaji Anta now at large as the leader of the gang, other suspects arrested include Buga Ali “M”, Suleiman ISSAH ‘M’ AGE 20YRS, AMINU BELLO, SULEMAN BILIYAH ‘M’, AGE:21YRS, YAHAHA ADAM ‘M’ AGE: 20YRS.

He said they will all be charged in court as soon as the investigation is over.

In another successful operation based on actionable intelligence that some suspected kidnappers who were believed to be responsible for kidnapping around the axis were sighted.

Mr. Odama said the police quickly mobilize vigilantes and local hunters and headed to the area.

According to him, two of the kidnappers by name Yau Alhaji and Idris Alhaji Auta was arrested.

The suspects confessed to being responsible for the kidnap of the two kidnapped victims in the Oluwalose community, oko-olowo, one Alhaji Tunde Buhari and one Muhammed Mecho. When brought together, the Victim identified one of the suspects as one of his abductors.

He said the suspects would soon be charged in court after an investigation.

He, however, warn all criminals to leave the state, saying Kwara State is a state of harmony and the command would do everything to maintain and sustain the name.
