Seven Journalists Killed, Four Injured As NUJ Bus Crashes On Gombe–Yola Highway
The vehicle, belonging to the NUJ Gombe State Council, was involved in the crash along the Gombe–Yola highway shortly after departing Gombe en route to Yola, Adamawa State.
Gomber State– Seven members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) have lost their lives, while four others sustained injuries in a lone fatal road accident involving an NUJ bus in Gombe State.
The vehicle, belonging to the NUJ Gombe State Council, was involved in the crash along the Gombe–Yola highway shortly after departing Gombe en route to Yola, Adamawa State.
A photograph obtained by Afrika Eyes shows the NUJ bus badly mangled, underscoring the severity of the impact.

Afrika Eyes gathered that the victims were part of a delegation of journalists who had travelled to attend a wedding ceremony in Gombe South Senatorial District.
The journalists were reportedly on their return journey when the accident occurred.

Further findings indicate that the delegation had earlier gone to honour a colleague, an employee of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), who was getting married.
Emergency responders and security officials were said to have rushed the injured survivors to a nearby medical facility for treatment, while the deceased were evacuated from the scene.

As of the time of filing this report, authorities were yet to release an official statement on the cause of the crash.
