Kwara Police Rescue Four Kidnap Victims, Two Still Missing

The Kwara State Police Command has rescued four kidnapped travellers along Obbo-Ile/Osi roads in Ekiti Local Government of the state, while the search for two others continues.

In a press release by the State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Okasanmi Ajayi said “An information regarding the kidnap of six occupants of a Hummer bus Reg No: Abuja KUJ 613 AA between Obbo-Ile/Osi road by Five armed hoodlums at about 2315hrd of 15/8/2022 was received today 16/8/2022 at about 0730hrs.

“On receipt of the information, detachments of conventional policemen, Tactical teams, Vigilante and Hunters were immediately dispatched to the area for possible search, rescue and arrest of the suspects.

Mr Ajayi said the vehicle was loaded with foodstuffs, and an empty shell of 7.62mm ammunition was recovered.

According to him, “the intensity of the pressure applied in the search and rescue efforts led to the abandoning of four of the abductees, hopefully, the remaining two victims would soon be rescued.”

Meanwhile, the commissioner of police, Kwara State, CP Tuesday Assayomo has assured the families of yet-to-be-rescued victims that no stone would be left unturned in getting the remaining victims in the custody of the kidnappers safely rescued.

He, however, advised commuters to avoid night journeys, especially on isolated roads.
