Kaduna State– Gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped a middle-aged woman identified as Halima Bello and her 17-year-old son, Yusuf Bello, in Zaria, Kaduna State.
ASP Mansir Hassan, the spokesperson for Kaduna State Police Command, confirmed the abduction to journalists on Tuesday, said the victims were abducted yesterday in the Dogarawa area of Sabon gari Local Government Area of the state.
He, however assured the public of the determination of the police to rescue the abductees as soon as possible.
Meanwhile, a vigilante member in the area explained to journalists that the bandits, who arrived during the early hours of Monday at about 2am invaded the Dogarawa area with sophisticated weapons.
According to him, the gunmen numbering about 15 entered the residence of Alhaji Bello where they abducted his wife and son.
He added that Alhaji Adamu Bello was also attacked but narrowly escaped with a wound in his hand and was rushed to hospital for treatment.
He further explained that the bandits however spared the remaining two tenants in the residence but tied and locked them up in their respective rooms after carrying out their operation.
