BREAKING: Terrorists Reportedly Kill Two Of Four Kidnapped Rice Farmers In Edu LGA

According to community sources, the farmers were kidnapped while working on their rice fields, a routine many residents say has become increasingly dangerous due to the constant presence of armed groups operating freely in the area

Ilorin, Kwara State– Terrorists reportedly killed two of the four rice farmers abducted on Wednesday in Bokungi Village, Edu Local Government Area of Kwara State.

According to community sources, the farmers were kidnapped while working on their rice fields, a routine many residents say has become increasingly dangerous due to the constant presence of armed groups operating freely in the area.

A resident who spoke under condition of anonymity said the community received the devastating update early Thursday morning.

“Out of the four kidnapped victims from Bokungi yesterday, two have been reportedly killed,” the source said, adding that the families of the remaining captives fear the worst as negotiations have stalled.

The source told Afrika Eyes that the attackers have continued to terrorize farming communities across Edu and Patigi LGA.

He added that most farmers now avoid their farms despite the harvest season, worsening fears of looming food shortages.

Afrika Eyes earlier reported that terrorists have launched yet another assault in Kwara State, abducting four rice farmers in Bokungi Village, Edu Local Government Area, barely 24 hours after gunmen attacked a church in Eruku, Ekiti LGA.

Sources told Afrika Eyes that the latest incident occurred on Wednesday evening while the victims were working on their rice farmlands during the peak of the harvest season.

“It has been confirmed that bandits struck again at Bokungi under the Lafiagi Emirate, where four people were abducted. Information is still emerging,” a local source said
