BREAKING: Gunmen Open Fire On Abia Governor Otti’s Advance Team In Imo
Authorities have been notified, and investigations are ongoing to track down and apprehend the perpetrators.
Umuahia, Abia State- An advance team of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, narrowly escaped an attack by unidentified gunmen along the Umuowa–Ihite axis in Imo State early Tuesday, December 2, 2025.
Afrika Eyes gathered that the three-member team was en route to Sam Mbakwe Cargo Airport, Owerri, when gunmen opened fire shortly before the airport junction.
However, no member of the team was harmed.
In a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Ukoha Njoku Ukoha, the government clarified that the Governor’s main convoy was not involved and was nowhere near the scene of the attack.
“The convoy of His Excellency, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, was not attacked. No member of the advance team or any other person sustained injury, and no life was lost,” the statement said, urging the public to disregard false reports suggesting otherwise.
Authorities have been notified, and investigations are ongoing to track down and apprehend the perpetrators.
Security agencies are working to determine the motive behind the brazen attack.
