At Least Eight Abducted As Suspected Bandits Strike Kwara Communities In Coordinated Raids
Residents said the kidnappers operated unchallenged for several minutes before fleeing the area with their victims.
Ilorin, Kwara State– At least eight residents have been abducted in separate attacks by suspected bandots in parts of Kwara State, following coordinated raids on Gaa Jimoh community in Ijara Isin, Isin Local Government Area, and Gaa Power Line area of Omu-Aran.
It was gathered that the first incident occurred on Monday at about 6:30 a.m. in Gaa Jimoh, when a large number of armed men invaded the quiet community and forcefully whisked away several residents, throwing the area into panic and fear.
National Pilot indentified the victims of the early morning attack were identified as Adebayo Saheed (male), Adebayo Fatimah (female), Adebayo Salamat (female), Ibrahim Mohammed (male), and Ibrahim Yusuf (male).
Residents said the kidnappers operated unchallenged for several minutes before fleeing the area with their victims.
In a related development, another kidnapping incident was recorded last Friday at about 7:30 p.m. at Gaa Power Line, Omu-Aran.
Local residents disclosed that no fewer than five heavily armed men stormed the community, firing sporadically to scare residents before abducting three people.
Those taken were identified as Mrs. Fatimah, who was with her two-month-old baby, Adama Musa, and Umaru Sanda.
A community leader, who spoke on condition of anonymity, revealed that the kidnappers later released Mrs. Fatimah and her infant unconditionally but escaped with Adama Musa and Umaru Sanda.
Following the twin attacks, police operatives in Omu-Aran, working with local vigilante groups, have launched an intensive manhunt for the perpetrators.
