Our Desire Is To Give Kwarans Better Transportation Choices- Oyin Zubair

The scheme is in fulfilment of our desire to give residents better transportation choices and the initiative is targeted at improving mobility and creating a multi-modal transportation system for Kwarans.

The Kwara State Governemt, is set to launch 50 First mini buses – it is a plans to be commission as an additional means of transportation for Kwarans in the State.

The new buses provide inclusive, safe and convenient public transportation access for commuters on residential routes to link to the main transit corridors where buses do not operate.

Senior Special Assistant to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, on Community Intervention, Kayode Oyin Zubair, while touring the transport facility with the Road Transport Employment of Nigeria (RTEN) and Nation Union member Of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).

He said the expansion of transportation routes and greater intermodal transportation has created numerous opportunities for Kwarans through the government’s socio-economic intervention program aimed at giving citizens of Kwara access to better transport choices.

Mr Zubair said his office served as a window to help kwarans by bringing funds from private companies through community intervention. Apart from the regular things of government policies like road, water and infrastructures.

According to him, “In 2020, we got the Aliko Dangote foundation fund for sixteen thousand women at ten thousand naira and that was 160 million. The money was shared to venerable women across the 16 local governments in Kwara State.”

He stated that his office was able to executes some community projects worth 500 million across the state. The community transport intervention project, 100 units of tricycles worth 92 million, Aliko Dangote foundation fund worth 160 million and 50 mini buses worth 120 million with other micro-projects like Milk plant in Ajase-Ipo, Food Beverages in Igbaja and TVS in Offa.

The milk plant has 3 thousand capacity of stainless steel tanks and there are quality control officers who collected the cow milk and transport it straight to WAMCO in Lagos, through the effort of community intervention by the State Government.

Meanwhile, in Igbaje there is a direct sale depot of Hero Hunter Motorcycle which most of the Honourable members of Kwara House of Assembly bought 130 units from the depot.

Mr Zubair explained that this is the first kind of control room in the state where the vehicles are monitored, track and detect for any technical challenges.

Mr Zubair expressed confidence in the community intervention programs and proper leverage on technology to address transport and logistics challenges in the state.

He, however, thanks Governor AbdulRhaman AbdulRazaq for givinghim the opportunity to serve Kwarans better through his office as Senior Special Assistant to Governor on Community Intervention.

The Chairman of Road Transport Employment of Nigeria (RTEN) in Kwara, Alhaji AbdulRahman Olayinka Onikijipa, while speaking on the AbdulRazaq-led administration commended his efforts and assured the governor of the support of his members in all his welfare and infrastructure programmes to improve the condition of living of the residents of the state.

Also, the Kwara State Chairman of Nation Union member Of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) Alhaji AbdulKareem Ariwoola commended the SSA community Intervention for his unrelenting support to the transport worker, said he served as a bridgebuilder between the state government and the transport workers.

He encourages the state government to do more for its members.
