Amid Nationwide Protests, Tinubu Meet NLC, TUC Leaders
The union leaders who met the President at the Presidential Villa said that Tinubu made some commitments
The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) Joe Ajaero, and Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Festus Osifo, on Wednesday met with President Bola Tinubu over the removal of fuel subsidy and anti-people policies.
Recalled that the union leaders directed all its state councils in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, to mobilise for the protest today.
Mobilization for the nationwide protest by NLC followed the congress’ rejection of the policy measures unveiled by President Bola Tinubu in his national broadcast on Monday.
The union leaders who met the President at the Presidential Villa said that Tinubu has made some commitments to address some issues which need immediate attention.
According to them, they would report to their executive committees where a decision would be taken on the ongoing protest, adding that Labour would conduct its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Thursday and all the issues would be considered.
