Suspected Cultists Kill Baale’s Son In Kuto Community, Abeokuta

Abeokuta, Ogun State- The son of the Baale of Kuto Community in Abeokuta has been reportedly killed by suspected cultists.

Fatai Kehinde, a 48-year-old Point-of-Sale operator, was brutally murdered on Friday night, August 9, 2024.

The attackers chased him from his shop inside Kuto Market to under the Kuto bridge, where they eventually killed him.

Fatai, who was affectionately known as Faity and was the son of the Baale of Kuto, was laid to rest on Saturday at around 2 p.m.

A reliable source from the Kuto community spoke to Punch, revealing that one of the assailants had posed as a customer.

“The killing occurred at around 11 p.m. Faity was closing his PoS shop when his killers arrived. One of them pretended to be a customer wanting to withdraw money, while three others, wearing masks, emerged and opened fire on him,” the source said.

However, the shot reportedly did not penetrate, prompting Fatai to flee. Unfortunately, his attackers caught up with him under the Kuto bridge and brutally killed him.

“It’s possible that the same gang who killed Faity was responsible for the murder of a barber at Isale Oja Kuto four days ago. We heard they used the same SUV for both attacks,” the source added.

Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed the incidents on Saturday, stating, “The Command is aware of both incidents, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the killings.”
