Ilorin, Kwara State– A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kwara State, Ambassador Yahaya Abdulfatai Seriki-Gambari, has extended his heartfelt congratulations to the state’s APC Chairman, Prince Sunday Fagbemi, on his recent appointment as Chairman of the Governing Council of the National Cereals Research Institute (NCRI), Badeggi, Niger State.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Seriki described the appointment as “a timely and strategic move” by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, commending the president for entrusting a Kwaran with such a critical role in the nation’s agricultural development and food security.
“I sincerely congratulate Prince Sunday Fagbemi on this well-deserved appointment,” Seriki said.
“His wealth of experience, dedication to service, and commitment to party ideals will undoubtedly reflect in his leadership at the NCRI. This is not just a personal recognition, but a win for Kwara and a boost to Nigeria’s efforts at strengthening food security.”
The Ilorin East-born politician expressed strong confidence in Fagbemi’s capacity to deliver on the mandate of the research institute, which plays a crucial role in the development of cereals and related food crops across the country.
Seriki also used the opportunity to commend the Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for what he described as his “unrelenting efforts in facilitating quality appointments for competent Kwarans at the federal level.”
“Our Governor has consistently demonstrated the importance of inclusive leadership and competence-driven representation for our state. His efforts are yielding results, and Prince Fagbemi’s appointment is further proof,” he said.

The National Cereals Research Institute, headquartered in Badeggi, Niger State, is one of Nigeria’s key agricultural institutions, mandated to conduct research on improved cereal production to boost food supply and ensure national food security.
