Vandals Steal Railway Equipment Between Agege, Agbado Stations, NRC Condemns Sabotage
The vandalized items include signal machine cap protectors and connection cables on Switch Point Machine No. 2.
Ikeja, Lagos State- The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has reported yet another case of vandalism on the Lagos–Ibadan Standard Gauge corridor, involving the theft of critical railway equipment between Agege and Agbado Stations.
In a statement signed by the Chief Public Relations Officer, Callistus Unyimadu, the Corporation disclosed that some unknown individuals tampered with vital signalling components along the route.

The incident was discovered during a routine inspection on Monday, October 6, 2025.
The NRC condemned the act as sabotage against national infrastructure, noting that such criminal activities not only disrupt the smooth operation of train services but also pose grave safety risks to passengers and railway personnel.

Despite the damage, the Corporation assured the public that train movement on the Lagos–Ibadan corridor was not affected and operations have continued without interruption.
According to the statement, relevant security agencies have been notified to investigate the incident and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The NRC reiterated its commitment to maintaining safe and reliable rail operations across the country and urged communities along railway lines to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities around railway installations.
