Trigger-Happy Policeman Alledgedly Kills Nursing Mother In Ado-Ekiti While Celebrating Colleague’s Promotion
The incident occurred at Oke-Ila Police Station, where the officer, reportedly from another division, fired his gun to celebrate the promotion of a colleague.
Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State- A trigger-happy policeman has reportedly killed a nursing mother, Ifeoluwa Adekolu, in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
The incident occurred at Oke-Ila Police Station, where the officer, reportedly from another division, fired his gun to celebrate the promotion of a colleague.
It was gathered that the stray bullet hit Adekolu, who was standing across the road opposite the station.
Meanwhile, the woman was rushed to a nearby hospital but was confirmed dead on arrival.
Reacting to the incident, the newly promoted Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Adewale Adeniran, confirmed the tragedy. He disclosed that the officer responsible has been disarmed and is currently in custody.
“The officer will face thorough interrogations in line with the Nigeria Police Act,” AIG Adeniran assured, adding that justice would be served.
