The Young Progressive Party YPP, House of Reps Candidate for Irepodun/Isin/Ekiti/Oke-Ero Federal Constituency Charles Olufemi Folayan , on Thursday, performed the opening ceremony of the intra-community football competition at Kajola town, Oke-Ero Local Government Area of Kwara State.
Speaking at the event, Mr Folayan expressed his joy for having young people who are committed in developing their community through sports activities.
According to him, grassroot sport engagement plays a vital role in fighting against insecurity and social vices among the youth.
“It’s unfortunate that we don’t have good sport facilities in the various communities in our constituency, that alone is a sign of leadership failure in the local, constituency and the State. It simply means we lack visionary leaders. Sport is one of the major ways we can fight insecurity with other social vices around our communities.
He, however, promised to invest on grassroots sport development when elected.”
I want to reiterate here that grassroot sport development would be one of my area of focus when elected to the house of representatives.
The Football competition tagged “Kajola 2021/22 five aside football competition” would be match between Ipekun, Oke-Osi, Igbinlo, Ipara, Oke-Oyo, Igemo, Itoto and Ilowe as part of activities to mark the new yam festival in Kajola community.
