Six Arrested For Provocative Chants Against Emir Of Kano

They were intruders who came on their own, and they must have been sponsored by somebody or a group of persons.

The Kano police command has arrested six suspects following their involvement in making provocative chants directed at the Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero.

The suspects responsible for the provocative chants have been accused of causing a public disturbance during the inauguration ceremony of Hasiya Bayero Paediatric Hospital in Kofar Kudu, within the Municipal Local Government Area of the state.

Kano State Police Commissioner, Hussaini Gumel, disclosed that the suspects created a disturbance during the otherwise peaceful event by chanting provocative slogans targeting the Emir of Kano, Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, who was in attendance.

It was alleged that they were chanting “New governor, new Emir”, inadvertently calling on Governor Abba Yusuf to remove Ado Bayero and install a new one since a new government is in power.

An investigation is ongoing to identify more suspects and their sponsors. Gumel said;

“That group of people were not invited to the event. They were intruders who came on their own, and they must have been sponsored by somebody or a group of persons.

“Six persons have been identified. We used technology to track them down. We are still analysing the video footage and we are making efforts to arrest all those involved. We are also making efforts to get the sponsors.
