Troops Kill 8 Boko Haram/ISWAP Fighters, 11 Surrender In Borno

Maiduguri, Borno State– Troops of Operation HADIN KAI have intensified military pressure on Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists across Borno State, killing eight insurgents, forcing 11 others to surrender and arresting key logistics collaborators in a series of coordinated operations.
Afrika Eyes gathered that troops, acting on credible intelligence, engaged JAS/ISWAP elements between Sojiri and Kayamla villages, where eight terrorists were neutralised during a fierce encounter.

In a statement issued by the Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI, Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, the military said troops have continued aggressive clearance, fighting patrols and blocking operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks across the state.![]()
According to the statement, on 9 January 2026, troops conducted extensive clearance operations in the Bulaagalda cluster, destroying multiple active terrorist enclaves and camps at Dagumba, Bonne, Yaganari, Gosuri and Umchile.
Among the destroyed locations were the notorious Abu Nazir and Abu Ahmed camps, long used as operational hubs by the terrorists.

During the operation, troops dismantled life-support structures, degraded terrorist logistics and recovered several items, including terrorist flags, weapons and magazines. Similar offensive actions in the Yale and Bula Gaida areas forced fleeing terrorists to abandon logistics facilities, leading to further recovery of weapons, ammunition and a general-purpose machine gun.
In a related development, troops arrested two suspected terrorist logistics collaborators in Gubio Local Government Area of Borno State for allegedly supplying food items and other logistics to Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters.
