Seven Thugs Arrested Over Unrest In Kano
17 suspects were arrested out of which seven were directly involved in the unrest based on investigation.
At least seven thugs have been arrested by operatives of police in connection with unrest and insecurity in communities in Dala Local Government Area of Kano State.
The State House of Assembly had earlier passed a motion calling the attention of the state government to direct the Commissioner of Police to deploy personnel to the areas as they were being sacked by thugs.
The motion was moved by the Member representing Dala, Lawan Hussani, who said the thugs were raiding the areas as early as 7am; forcing people to close business, noting that some residents were fleeing the areas.
Spokesman of the command, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, who confirmed the arrest on Wednesday, June 21, 2023, said a team of operatives was raised and that seven suspects were arrested.
SP Haruna said a total of 17 suspects were arrested out of which seven were directly involved in the unrest based on investigation.
“We got a report about the unrest. Already, 17 suspects were arrested and based on investigation seven were found out to be involved in the thuggery.
“The Commissioner of Police has already swung into action by meeting with the area commander, traditional and religious leaders and others in the area.
“He has also deployed personnel and equipment to the area especially, Dutsen Dala where there are always complaints that it is the troubled area to restore normalcy, law and order in the area,” he stated.
