Policeman Allegedly Shoots FRSC Officer During Number Plate Enforcement In Lagos
Ikeja, Lagos State – A Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) officer has reportedly been shot and wounded by a man dressed in a police uniform during an enforcement operation in Lagos.
The incident occurred amid the FRSC’s nationwide crackdown on the use of fake number plates, led by the Lagos Sector Command.
According to Channels TV, the attack took place as officers were conducting checks under the supervision of Lagos Sector Commander Kehinde Hamzat.
While addressing journalists, Hamzat declined to provide specific details on the shooting, urging patience while investigations unfold.
However, it remains unclear whether the assailant is an actual member of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF), as police authorities in Lagos have yet to comment on the matter.
Following the incident, the Lagos State FRSC has suspended its ongoing enforcement operation.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Hamzat confirmed that the program’s launch had been put on hold pending further developments.
Authorities are expected to provide more details as investigations continue.
