The dismissal was carried out after the .Discipline, Rack and File Committee of the GFA Command, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, concluded a Room Trial proceeding against the officer and affirmed the recommendation of dismissal
Yenagoa, Bayelsa State– The Nigeria Police Force has dismissed a serving officer, Police Constable John Yanga, Force Number 542814, following a review of a disciplinary process that upheld his removal from the Force over alleged discreditable conduct.
The dismissal was carried out after the Discipline, Rack and File Committee of the GFA Command, Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, concluded a Room Trial proceeding against the officer and affirmed the recommendation of dismissal earlier handed down by a delegated officer.
According to an official police signal issued by the Commissioner of Police, GFA Command, Yenagoa, the trial, which was conducted in absentia, found PC John Yanga guilty of discreditable conduct, an offence considered incompatible with the ethics and discipline of the Nigeria Police Force.
The signal made it clear that the message was issued by the police command itself and not by any opposing party, stressing that the action taken followed due internal disciplinary procedures.
“With effect from 07/01/2026, the punishment of dismissal from the Force has been upheld,” the signal stated.
As part of the enforcement of the decision, the police authorities issued a series of directives to relevant departments to ensure the immediate implementation of the dismissal.
The Integrated Personnel Payroll System (IPPS) office in Abuja was directed to delete PC Yanga’s name from the payroll without delay and ensure that his salary is stopped.
The Police Equipment Maintenance and Engineering Command (PEMEC) and the Chief Financial Officer’s office in Yenagoa and other states were instructed to take note of the dismissal and comply accordingly.
Similarly, the Provost of the Police Mobile Force (PMF), Yenagoa, was ordered to retrieve all police property in the possession of the dismissed officer.
This includes his police identity card, uniforms, and any other official accoutrements. The directive also stated that PC Yanga must be ejected from the barracks if he was occupying any police accommodation.
In addition, the Computer, Procurement, and Planning Department of the command was instructed to delete his name from the Command Nominal Roll and amend all official records to reflect his dismissal.
A video obtained by Afrika Eyes captured the moment the decision was formally communicated to the officer.
In the footage, PC John Yanga was seen removing his police uniform and shoes while another officer read out the official signal to him in his presence.
While the signal was being read, the officer addressed PC Yanga directly, explaining the implication of the decision.
“PC John Yanga, having read this signal fromimplicationssioner of Police, GFA Command, Yenagoa, it clearly means that the Room Trial you previously underwent has been reviewed and the punishment of dismissal has been upheld,” the officer said.
“Consequently, from today, you are no longer a serving police officer and should henceforth address yourself as an ex-police officer.”
The officer further instructed that all police uniforms and accoutrements in PC Yanga’s possession must be retrieved immediately.
He was asked to hand over his identity card if he had it, and informed that if he did not, all remaining uniforms would still be recovered from him.
“You are hereby marched out of the barracks, as you are no longer a member of the Nigeria Police Force,” the officer added during the reading of the signal.
The command wishes the dismissed officer success in his future endeavours, marking the end of his career with the Nigeria Police Force.
