Osun Police Arraign Man, 26, For Allegedly Threatening Mother’s Life Over Money
Babatunde allegedly used a bottle to intimidate his mother during the altercation.
Osogbo, Osun State– Osun State Police on Wednesday arraigned a 26-year-old man, Adesoji Babatunde, at a magistrates’ court in Ile-Ife for allegedly threatening to harm his mother, Madam Jolaade Awotoye, over her refusal to give him money.
According to ASP Emmanuel Abdullahi, the prosecutor, the incident occurred on Tuesday around 4 p.m. in the Ita-Osa area of Ile-Ife.
Babatunde allegedly used a bottle to intimidate his mother during the altercation.
The prosecutor stated that the offence violated Sections 86 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun 2002.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the two charges of breach of peace and threat to life.
In his submission, the defence counsel, Mr Adeleke Dada, urged the court to grant his client bail on the most liberal terms, assuring the court that his client would not abscond.
Magistrate Abosede Sarumi granted bail to the defendant in the amount of N250,000 with two sureties, each in the same sum, and adjourned the case to December 16 for hearing.
