Man Electrocuted While Trying To Vandalize Transformer In Imo

The transformer was donated by the old boys association of the school.

A man yet-to-be-identified was found dead on Thursday night, on a transformer placed at Government Secondary School in Owerri, Imo state.

It was gathered that he was trying to steal cables and vandalize the transformer before getting electrocuted after power was restored.

The school Principal, Mr. Chukwujindu Anyikwa, who confirmed the incident said that he has reported the incident to appropriate authorities which include but are not limited “to the Secondary Education Management Board (SEMB) in the state, and Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) who later visited the scene of the incident.”

The transformer was donated by the old boys association of the school.

He further explained that it was after making entry at the Police Station that they were advised to go to the Federal University Teaching Hospital Owerri mortuary with a Police report before the mortuary attendants came with an ambulance and evacuated the body.

When contacted for details, the PPRO Imo State Command, Henry Okoye confirmed the incident and the school authority to engage more security personnel, especially at night.
