INEC Declares APC’s Okpebholo Winner Of Edo Governorship Election
Benin, Edo State- The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Senator Monday Okpebholo, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), as the winner of the Edo State governorship election.
According to INEC, Senator Okpebholo secured a majority of the votes, surpassing his closest rivals in a closely monitored race.
The Returning Officer for the election and Vice Chancellor of the University of Technology, Minna, Niger State, Prof. Prof Faruk Adamu declared Senator Okpebholo as the winner of the Edo State governorship election.
Okpebholo secured a total of 291,667 votes, outpacing his closest rival, Asue Ighodalo of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who got 247,274 votes, according to results from all 18 local government areas, as announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Labour Party candidate Olumide Akpata finished a distant third with 22,763 votes.
