Gunmen Suspected To Be Cultists Kill Ilorin Hotel Manager
They subsequently assaulted him with machetes, causing severe injuries to his head, hands, and legs.
Ilorin, Kwara State- Anthony Balogun, the manager of a hotel in Ilorin, Kwara State, has been killed in an attack by suspected cultists.
Balogun, who was managing the hotel owned by his mother, was targeted in the early hours of 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at the hotel located in the Olunlade area of Ilorin.
It was gathered that two armed men reportedly entered the hotel premises and asked to see Anthony. Mistaking them for potential customers, Anthony exited his room to meet them at the reception.
The attackers then lured him outside the reception area and shot him in the chest at close range. They subsequently assaulted him with machetes, causing severe injuries to his head, hands, and legs.
Anthony’s elder sister confirmed the tragic event with the Nigerian Tribune.
“He called me around 6:30 p.m., and by 7:00 p.m., he attempted to share some information. I was in the kitchen, so I had one of my children take the call, planning to return his call later,” she explained.
“When I tried calling him back at 8:00 p.m., his phone was off. After multiple attempts, I received a call from his wife, urging me to go to the Kwara State General Hospital, now Kwara State University Teaching Hospital, Ilorin. There, I discovered his lifeless and severely mutilated body.”
