Gunmen Attack TCN Substation Construction Site In Kogi, Damage Transformer
It was gathered that during the attack, the radiator of a 150MVA power transformer — a key component positioned on its plinth — sustained damage.
Lokoja, Kogi State– Gunmen have reportedly stormed the construction site of the Transmission Company of Nigeria’s (TCN) 330/132/33kV transmission substation in Obajana, Kogi State, damaged critical infrastructure.
The incident, which took place around 11:55 PM on November 12, left security personnel scrambling for safety as the assailants opened fire indiscriminately.
It was gathered that during the attack, the radiator of a 150MVA power transformer — a key component positioned on its plinth — sustained damage.
TCN’s General Manager of Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, confirmed the attack in a statement released Wednesday, noting that the company is now working with the project’s contractor to assess the full extent of the damage.
The statement read, “This incident is part of a broader pattern of vandalism targeting transmission infrastructure across the country.
“The new Obajana Transmission Substation, which is designed to be a 1X150MVA 330/132/33kV capacity substation will significantly enhance power supply to Kogi State and surrounding areas upon completion,” Mbah added
