Gombe Police Recover Four Stolen Cows On Eve Of Eid-El Kabir
The bulls were traced to an uncompleted building
Operatives of Gombe State Police Command has recovered four cows suspected to be stolen from the houses of residents in the state on the eve of the Eid-el Kabir festival.
Spokesman of the command Mahid Muazu Abubakar disclosed this on Thursday in a press release issued to journalists.
According to him, the ‘stolen cows’ were recovered by police operatives of the command following the case of theft of two bulls reported at Gona divisional headquarters on 27th June, 2023 at about 10:30PM by one Malam Jibrin of Gidim village that unknown persons entered his compound and made away with his two bulls valued at 700,000.
“On receipt of the information, detectives of the division mobilised to the scene and the bulls were traced to an uncompleted building at Nassarawo quarters where four bulls suspected to be stolen were seen and the complainant identified two bulls as his.
“In the process, a locally made pistol with two live cartridges was also recovered as exhibits. The investigation is ongoing to catch the fleeing suspects”. He said.
In another development, Abubakar said the Gombe State Police Command while acting on a distress call received via the command’s control room on 24th June, 2023 at about 2:30PM had neutralised one suspected armed robber and confiscated weapons in some parts of the state.
He explained that the gang of notorious armed robbers have been terrorizing the residents of Gombe metropolitan, especially Arawa, Malam Inna and Nayi nawa quarters.
“The suspected robbers invaded the residence of one Alhaji Gidado Muhammad Sani at Arawa Quarters shooting sporadically and robbing them of their valuable properties thereby injuring his security man one Mohammed Abdullahi on his head, left hand and back.
“While acting on the distress, the commissioner of police CP Oqua Etim mobilized the tactical team of Operation 999 to the scene, which swiftly responded but on sighting the operatives the armed robbers engaged them in a gun duel where one of the deadly robbers Alias Albaru of Kumbiya Kumbiya quarters was neutralized while Adamu Usman alias Bali 22 years old of Barunde Quarters, Mustapha Abdullahi alias jammaye 22 years of Malam Inna and Abdullahi Hussaini alias Danbasi 21 years of Unguwa Uku were arrested and six others on the run with suspected bullet wounds.
“Part of the exhibits robbed from the victims was recovered as effort is emplaced to arrest the fleeing suspects”. He said.
The command reiterated its resolve and commitment of its officers in responding to cases of urgent attention while appreciating the support and cooperation from the people of the State urging them to do more in reporting crimes and criminals.
