Fake Policeman Nabbed In Kano For Extorting Residents
The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Nasiru Shitu of Kofar Waika Quarters, Kano, was apprehended on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at about 5 p.m. while wearing a suspected police uniform.
Kano State- The Kano State Police Command has arrested a man who allegedly posed as a police officer to extort unsuspecting residents in the state.
The suspect, identified as 33-year-old Nasiru Shitu of Kofar Waika Quarters, Kano, was apprehended on Sunday, September 21, 2025, at about 5 p.m. while wearing a suspected police uniform.
Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 23, said Shitu was arrested at Kofar Dawanau, an area where multiple complaints of extortion by fake policemen had been lodged.
According to Kiyawa, a preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is neither a police officer nor a member of the Police Special Constabulary.
The statement read, “The suspect will be charged to court for prosecution. Further investigation is ongoing to determine the extent of his activities and any possible accomplices,”
