Chicago University To Release President Tinubu’s Academic Records Following Atiku’s Request

The Chicago State University in the United States has agreed to release the academic records of President Bola Tinubu.

Atiku Abubakar, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, who is challenging President Bola Tinubu’s victory in the February 25, 2023 presidential election, wrote to the school requesting proof of Tinubu’s graduation from the institution.

President Tinubu’s academic qualification has been in doubt for many years, with some Nigerians claiming that he never attended the Chicago State University.

However, the university has consistently stated that he was enrolled as an undergraduate from August 1977 through June 1979 and was granted a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business and Administration with honors on June 22, 1979.

Atiku had taken the step of approaching the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in an attempt to gain access to Tinubu’s educational records at the Chicago State University.

In a tweet shared on Thursday, August 24, the PDP stated that the institution has agreed to present President Tinubu’s academic records in court.

The Chicago State University in the United States of America, in response to the application filed by the @OfficialPDPNig and its Presidential Candidate in the February 25, 2023 Election, @Atiku, has agreed to release the credentials of Bola A. Tinubu.

Nigerians and members of the international community are anxiously awaiting this information, as it will play a significant role in the decision-making process of the petition before the court.

In the document shared by the PDP on Twitter on Thursday, the university affirmed that President Tinubu is indeed a graduate of Chicago State University and stated that the institution was unaware of any legal proceedings involving President Tinubu.

The University further mentioned that it does not comprehend why Tinubu’s academic records would have any relevance to a 2023 election challenge in a foreign country.

The University stated that if a court order is issued in the United States (US), President Tinubu’s academic record would be disclosed to the public.
