BREAKING: Terrorists Launch Fresh Attack On Share Town In Kwara As Forest Guards, Soldiers Engage Gunmen
A local source said the attackers stormed the outskirts of Share, firing sporadically and attempting to penetrate the town before encountering resistance from security operatives.
Ilorin, Kwara State– Suspected terrorists believed to be bandits have launched a fresh attack on Share town in Ifelodun Local Government Area of Kwara State, as security forces battle to repel the assault.
Sources told Afrika Eyes that forest guards and military personnel were currently engaged in fierce gun battles with the attackers in an effort to prevent them from overrunning the community.
A local source said the attackers stormed the outskirts of Share, firing sporadically and attempting to penetrate the town before encountering resistance from security operatives.
“The bandits are attacking Share right now. There is serious tension everywhere. Forest guards and soldiers are fighting them to stop them from entering the main town,” the source said.
Another resident confirmed that sporadic gunshots could be heard from multiple directions, forcing many villagers to remain indoors while others fled to safer locations.
Afrika Eyes earlier reported that suspected terrorists have attacked Kakafu community in Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State, kidnapping four residents in a fresh attack.
A source to Afrika Eyes that the latest attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday.
Local sources said the gunmen stormed the community, firing sporadically before abducting four people to an unknown destination.
The identities of the victims were yet to be officially confirmed at the time of filing this report.
Residents described the incident as another disturbing sign of the worsening security situation across parts of the state, particularly in rural communities where armed groups now operate with little resistance.
A source who spoke to Afrika Eyes disclosed that the Sunday attack came barely 24 hours after another violent incident in the area.
On Saturday, suspected bandits reportedly attacked a vigilante and community guards’ checkpoint along Gamji Road in Gbugbu, also in Patigi Local Government Area.
The attackers reportedly opened fire on security operatives stationed at the checkpoint, leaving at least one officer of the Nigerian Army injured after he sustained a gunshot wound to the leg.
A vigilante operative was also struck during the assault and suffered a serious injury to the forehead.
“The bandits attacked the vigilantes and community guards checkpoint along Gamji Road, leaving at least one army officer injured after sustaining a gunshot wound to the leg. A vigilante officer was also reportedly hit and suffered a serious injury to the forehead,” the source added.
