BREAKING: President Tinubu Appoints New Directors-General For NIA, DSS

President Tinubu expects the new security chiefs to work diligently in repositioning the two intelligence agencies for greater effectiveness.

 

Abuja, Nigeria — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of new Directors-General for two of Nigeria’s key intelligence and security agencies.

Ambassador Mohammed Mohammed has been named as the new Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency (NIA), while Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi takes over as the Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Ambassador Mohammed, who began his distinguished career in the foreign service with the NIA in 1995, has held various positions, eventually rising to the rank of Director before being appointed as the head of Nigeria’s mission to Libya.

A 1990 graduate of Bayero University, Kano, he has served in countries such as North Korea, Pakistan, Sudan, and within the State House in Abuja.

The newly appointed SSS Director-General, Adeola Ajayi, has steadily advanced through the ranks to his current position as Assistant Director-General. He has previously served as State Director in Bauchi, Enugu, Bayelsa, Rivers, and Kogi.

These appointments follow the resignation of the former heads of the NIA and DSS.

President Tinubu expects the new security chiefs to work diligently in repositioning the two intelligence agencies for greater effectiveness. He urges them to leverage their experience to address the country’s security challenges through enhanced collaboration with sister agencies and close alignment with the Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA).
