Bandits Kill 21 Vigilantes Returning From Condolence Visit In Katsina Community
Safana Local Government Area has become a hotspot for banditry, kidnappings, and violent attacks, which are increasingly common.
Katsina State– No fewer than 21 members of a vigilante group were killed by bandits in Baure Village, Safana Local Government Area, Katsina State.
The victims were returning from a condolence visit when they were ambushed by the assailants.
The Katsina State Police Command confirmed the attack on Friday.
According to the Command’s spokesperson, DSP Abubakar Aliyu, the vigilantes were traveling in a group when the bandits ambushed them.

“On January 7, 2025, suspected armed bandits ambushed a joint team of Katsina State Community Watch Corps and vigilante members in Baure Village, Safana Local Government Area.
“The group was returning from a condolence visit when the attack occurred around 4:30 p.m.
He said Police operatives from the Safana Divisional Headquarters quickly responded, restoring order in the area.
However, the attack claimed the lives of 21 people.
“Authorities have launched efforts to track down those responsible for the attack. Further updates will be provided as investigations progress,” he said.
