Bandits Kidnap Catholic Priest, 15 Others In Taraba
It was reported that more than 100 gunmen rode motorcycles.
Jalingo, Taraba State– Bandits have kidnapped sixteen persons, among them a revered Catholic priest, Rev. Cletus Baleri, in the Zing Local Government Area of Taraba State.
It was gathered that the gunmen in their numbers attacked Dekko, Lama and Monkin villages in the early hours of Saturday, February 17 and abducted 16 people.
According to a witness, numerous villagers were injured by gunfire as they attempted to flee into the mountains during the attack.
It was reported that more than 100 gunmen rode motorcycles.
The spokesperson for the Taraba State Police Command, SP Usman Abdullahi, confirmed the attack on Sunday.
However, he stated that he is waiting for details and an actual number of people abducted from the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Zing LGA.
