After Bandits Kill His Brother, Ondo Lawmaker Equips Vigilantes Forces Bandits To Flee
His intervention came after his brother, Bola Adelegbe, was killed in 2023 despite a ransom payment
Akure, Ondo State- Ondo State lawmaker Timehin Adelegbe has action against kidnapping in his constituency by providing logistics support to local vigilantes, following the murder of his younger brother by bandits.
Adelegbe, who represents Owo/Ose federal constituency in the House of Representatives, said the vigilante group’s efforts have significantly improved security, pushing kidnappers out of the area.
His intervention came after his brother, Bola Adelegbe, was killed in 2023 despite a ransom payment.
In response, the lawmaker supplied vehicles and other resources to vigilantes to enhance their operations.
“At the height of the kidnappings, I engaged the vigilante group. Since they began operations, they have arrested some criminals, while others have fled,” Adelegbe stated at a press briefing on Monday.
To further secure the region, he facilitated the construction of the Ute/Okeluse road, which had been used as an escape route by criminals.
He also announced plans for a 40km road connecting 14 communities, with Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa committing to lay asphalt upon completion.
Meanwhile, Adelegbe disclosed educational projects, including the construction of science laboratories at Emure Grammar School and Uso Grammar School, aimed at improving science education in the constituency.
