BREAKING: Kwara Police Arrest Three Over Arson Attack On Traditional Worshipper’s Home In Ilorin

The suspects—identified as Alhaji Salihu Saka (63), Alhaji Abubakar Salihu (58) and Alhaji Yekini Olohuntele (67)—were taken into custody following a complaint filed by the victim at the C Division Police Station, Oja Oba.

Ilorin,  Kwara State– Three men have been arrested by the Kwara State Police Command over the alleged arson attack on the residence of an elderly woman, Mrs. T.A. Olorisha, in the Isale Koko area of Ilorin, Kwara State, SaharaReporters can report.

The suspects—identified as Alhaji Salihu Saka (63), Alhaji Abubakar Salihu (58) and Alhaji Yekini Olohuntele (67)—were taken into custody following a complaint filed by the victim at the C Division Police Station, Oja Oba.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, the Command confirmed that Mrs. Olorisha reported on January 2, 2026, at about 10:00pm that her house was deliberately set ablaze by unknown persons.

According to the police, the fire occurred on January 1, 2026, at about 7:00pm, while the victim was away from home.

“The complainant alleged that she had received threats in November 2025 from some individuals, including the three suspects, allegedly over religious differences, as she is a traditional worshipper,” the statement said.

Police confirmed that no life was lost in the incident, as no one was inside the building at the time of the fire.

However, the value of the property destroyed is yet to be determined.

“All three suspects are currently in police custody and are aiding investigations,” the Command added, noting that efforts are ongoing to apprehend other individuals who may have been involved in the attack.
