Court Orders Restraint On Police from Arresting Kano Anti-Graft Agency Chairman

Judge Issues Temporary Relief After Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado’s Arrest and Detention by Police

Kano State– A Kano State High Court has issued an order preventing the Nigeria Police Force from arresting or detaining Muhuyi Magaji Rimingado, Chairman of the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission (PCACC), after he was recently arrested and interrogated by police.

The restraining order was granted following a lawsuit filed by the Attorney General of Kano State, the Kano State Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission, and Rimingado himself, against the police authorities, including the Inspector General of Police and the Kano State Commissioner of Police.

Justice Sunusi Ado Ma’aji issued the order on Monday, following an ex parte motion filed by Rimingado’s counsel, supported by a six-paragraph affidavit.

The court has set February 2, 2025, as the date for a hearing on the motion on notice, which will address the matter further.
