Kwarans In Aviation Applaud FAAN, Kwara Govt, Offer Prayers For Hajj 2024 Pilgrims
We also appreciate the management team of GTIIA, led by Airport Manager Mr. Olatayo Oginni,
Ilorin, Kwara State– A group of professionals in Nigeria’s aviation industry, Kwarans in Aviation have expressed their appreciation for the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) and the Kwara State Government for their contributions to the success of the upcoming Hajj pilgrimage
In a statement by the group’s Chairman, Alhaji Bola Ahmed, and signed by the Public Relations Officer, Alhaji Rauf Alawo, the group extended their best wishes to pilgrims from Kwara State and other regions departing from Ilorin for the Hajj pilgrimage, a safe trip.
The chairman urged the pilgrims to be good ambassadors of Nigeria while in the holy land.
The group noted that the 2023 Hajj Pilgrims could not be airlifted directly from GTIIA to Jeddah/Medina due to issues critical to aviation safety, standards and recommended practices. This situation was regrettable as it caused inconvenience for the pilgrims and impacted the 2023 Hajj exercise.
The statement read; “As the 2024 Hajj exercise approaches and hope seemed lost, the intervention by the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) management restored our optimism with the resumption of Hajj flights from GTIIA. The commencement of the Hajj exercise has not only brought joy to the pilgrims but also to all stakeholders in the aviation sector and Kwara State.
Kwarans in Aviation acknowledges the significant efforts of FAAN management, which include the rehabilitation of the airfield lighting system, comprehensive renovation of the Hajj Processing Center, and provision of a fire tender.
“We extend our gratitude to the Managing Director/Chief Executive of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, and her entire management team. Special thanks are also due to the Director of Human Resources and Administration, Dr. Emiola Lukman Olatunbosun, and the Director of Engineering Services, Engr. Abiola, for their efforts.
“We also appreciate the management team of GTIIA, led by Airport Manager Mr. Olatayo Oginni, and the entire airport staff, including personnel from NAMA, FAAN, NCAA, NSIB, and others.
“Our gratitude extends to the Kwara State Government under the leadership of Governor Abdulrahaman Abdulrazaq for responding to the call from Kwarans in Aviation and for the provision of an ambulance and fire tender for the Hajj exercise.
“We also thank the Emir of Ilorin, Mai Martaba Alh. Ibraheem SuluGambari, Senator Saliu Mustapha representing Kwara Central, and the Executive of Ilorin Emirate Descendants Progressive Union (IEDPU) for their support.
“In conclusion, Kwarans in Aviation will continue to be a strong partner with all stakeholders in the aviation sector, promoting its standards and core values,” the statement said.
