37-Year-Old Killed Resisting Phone Robbery
He said that the hoodlums stabbed Abdulkadir in the stomach, exposing his intestines.
An investigation has been launched by the Adamawa State Police Command after the death of a 37-year-old man, Umar Abdulkadir, who was stabbed by the criminal gang, Shila Boys in Yola, the capital of the state.
Shila Boys consist of armed youths who terrorize members of some communities in Adamawa and other areas. Their focus lies in the targeted theft of mobile phones, jewellery, and valuable possessions, often employing acts of violence to achieve their objectives.
Confirming the occurrence to newsmen, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the spokesperson of the police command, stated that the event took place during the early hours of Saturday when the attackers forcefully entered the residence of the victim.
Sergeant Muhammad Abdulkadir, who is the brother of the deceased, said that a gang of around seven members forcibly entered the victim’s residence at 2:00 am, armed with knives and other lethal weapons. He explained that despite the deceased’s best attempts to flee, his efforts were in vain.
He said that the hoodlums stabbed Abdulkadir in the stomach, exposing his intestines.
He also mentioned that the gang seized the victim’s two phones before fleeing the scene. He added that the deceased passed away at the Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital in Yola, where he was rushed for medical attention.
