Jigawa Police Arrest Cattle Rustler, Recover Stolen Cows

The three cows worth one million one hundred and fifty thousand naira

Dutse, Jigawa State – Operatives of  Jigawa State Police Command have arrested a suspected cattle rustler, Muktari Ibrahim, and recovered three stolen cows from him.

The arrest took place in Kiyawa Local Government Area of the state following a complaint filed by one Umar Musa.

The command’s spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, stated in a statement on Tuesday, November 14, 2023, that the apprehension of the suspect occurred in response to a complaint lodged by Umar Musa.

Musa reported that unidentified thieves had forcibly entered his residence, absconding with three cows.

“On 13/11/2023 at about 0800hrs, one Umar Musa ‘m’ age 20yrs and Idris Ismail age 30yrs all of Malamawa village, kiyawa LGA, jointly lodged a direct complaint at Kiyawa Divisional Police headquarters that, on the same date at about 0300hrs unknown thieves criminally conspired and trespassed into their houses and stole away three cows worth one million one hundred and fifty thousand naira (₦1,150,000.00k)” the statement read.

“Upon receipt of the report, detectives from Kiyawa Division were detailed. Following a tip-off, the stolen three cows were traced and recovered in the house of one Muktari Ibrahim ‘m’ age 23yrs of Sabuwar Unguwa, Kiyawa LGA.

“When questioned, the said Muktari disclosed that he had received the cows from one Yusuf who is now at large. The cows were released on bond to the rightful owners.

“Effort is being intensified to arrest the fleeing suspects. Upon completion of the investigation, suspects will be charged before the court of justice to face the full weight of the law.”
