Senator Ashiru Replaces Minister Umahi As Deputy Senate Leader
Senator Umahi’s departure from the Senate followed his appointment as the Minister of Works
Abuja, Nigeria– Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday announced during the plenary session, said the 10th Senate, in a unanimous decision, chose Senator Lola Ashiru from Kwara State to assume the crucial position of Deputy Senate Leader.
Senator Ashiru, known for his dedicated service and representation of the Kwara South Senatorial District, has now taken up the mantle of Deputy Senate Leader, succeeding Senator Dave Umahi, who had previously represented the Ebonyi South Senatorial District.
Senator Umahi’s departure from the Senate followed his appointment as the Minister of Works by President Bola Tinubu.
The transition within the Senate leadership also saw Senator Ashiru vacating his previous role as Deputy Whip of the Senate.
The vacancy has been filled by Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, who hails from Ebonyi North Senatorial District.
