Two Arrested For Vandalizing, Stealing Cables From Adamawa Water Treatment Plant
Investigations have revealed that the arrested suspects were collaborating with as-yet-unidentified receivers
Yola, Adamawa State –The Adamawa State Police Command, in a swift response to a distress call, has arrested two suspects for vandalizing and stealing cables from the Adamawa Water Treatment plant in Yola, the state capital.
According to a statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, SP Suleiman Nguroje, the arrest took place during a confidence-building patrol near the Boronji Water Treatment plant, situated behind the Government House in Yola. The Manager of the Water Treatment plant had alerted the police to the incident.
The suspects were identified as 17-year-old Emmanuel Joseph and 25-year-old Yohanna Sulei, both residents of Boronji in Yola North.
According to the statement the suspects both conspired to vandalize armoured cables that supplied electricity to the treatment plant which resulted in the shutdown of the water supply in the area, causing inconvenience to the local residents.
“Investigations have revealed that the arrested suspects were collaborating with as-yet-unidentified receivers who were profiting from the stolen cables and the disrupted services of the Water Treatment plant.”
SP Nguroje said that the suspects will face charges in court once the investigation is completed.
