Vigilante Operatives Kill 2 Kidnappers, Foil Abduction Attempt

The husband of the businesswoman also narrated how OSPAC was alerted about an attempt to kidnap his wife and how it was foiled.

Two alleged kidnappers were shot and killed by members of the Akpor OSPAC Vigilante group in the Ogbogoro community of Obio-Akpor Local Government area in Rivers State, while they were attempting to abduct one Constance Osikadina businesswoman.

According to eyewitnesses, the kidnappers lost their lives in a shootout with the OSPAC Vigilante operatives within the Rumukwachi community of Ogbogoro.

Speaking about the abduction attempt, the businesswoman shared, “I was in my shop around 7pm, as we were preparing to close for the day. Suddenly, I heard the sound of a gunshot. I turned around quickly, and there were two masked men with firearms. They commanded me to get into a waiting getaway car. I immediately chose to sit down on the floor.

“They started hitting me. We were there for about 30 minutes until I heard somebody shouting from afar. And one was about shooting me and another said ‘don’t shoot Master said we should bring her alive’.

“Immediately they heard that voice, one of them said come…come they’re coming.They jumped into their car and fled”.

The husband of the businesswoman also narrated how OSPAC was alerted about an attempt to kidnap his wife and how it was foiled.

“Their gunshots created awareness and luckily their vehicle developed fault barely 200meters away from the kidnap scene and they were pushing it. This gave us ample time to make calls. That was how OSPAC gunned two, (by the special grace of God), one was arrested and one escaped. I use this opportunity to appreciate OSPAC. They tried yesterday”.

The Vice Chairman of Akpor OSPAC, David Amadi, said: “The OSPAC was alerted and they had contacted their unit in Ogbogoro who intercepted them. And at the exchange of gunfire, two who were fatally wounded were handed over to the Police. We recovered one G3 rifle and handed it over to the Police along with the vehicle. Some of them escaped.”

As of the time this report was filed, the Rivers Police Command had not yet issued a response regarding the unsuccessful kidnapping incident.
