Gusau, Zamfara State– Troops of the 1 Brigade under Operation FANSAN YANMA have arrested a 25-year-old woman, Shamsiyya Ahadu, suspected of supplying logistics to terrorists in Zamfara State.
It was gathered the arrest took place during a military operation, where Ahadu was found in possession of 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, six magazines, and a talisman, locally known as ‘laya.’
Alongside her, Ahmed Husaini, a motorcycle rider suspected of assisting her, was also detained.
It was learnt that Ahadu had been operating as a key logistics supplier for terrorist groups in the state.
Meanwhile, Zamfara State has been a hotspot for terrorist activities in recent years, prompting intensified operations by security forces to curb the menace.
This was disclosed by Zagazola Makama, a security analyst and counter-insurgency expert in the Lake Chad region, via his X handle on Saturday.
“The incident unfolded when authorities received intelligence about the movement of the suspect, leading to the establishment of a snap checkpoint along the road from Kware to Badarawa in the Shinkafi Local Government Area.
“This arrest signified the continual threat posed by criminal networks that compromise the safety and security of communities in Zamfara State.
“As investigations proceed and the suspects remain in custody for further action, the message is clear: community safety hinges on continuous efforts to dismantle the parameters of terror financing and logistics that exploit vulnerable populations in Zamfara and beyond,” he added.
