Troops Apprehend Suspected Bandits Terrorizing Plateau Communities

Troops from Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have arrested a total of 39 suspected criminals, and bandits terrorizing Plateau communities.

The arrests were made in the Joint Operation Area of Operation Hakorin Damisa IV and involved a range of offences, including banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery, illegal possession of firearms, and as well as recovery of arms and hard drugs.

According to Captain Oya James, the Media Information Officer for OPSH, the arrests of these suspects were made during operations conducted over the past two weeks.

Bandits Terrorising Plateau Communities

In a statement released on Tuesday, August 22, disclosed that two of the suspects, who had been prominently featured on the wanted list due to their alleged roles in multiple armed robberies and kidnapping incidents, were among those apprehended.

Among the suspects apprehended is a kidnapper who also deals in firearms as well as members of a militia gang identified to be among those involved in the Heipang village attack where about 13 persons were killed.

Members of a drug syndicate were also rounded up during a sting operation by the troops, with a large cache of drugs seized from the drug peddlers.
