Terrorists Kill Five Police Officers In Deadly Bauchi Ambush
Two other officers—Inspector Isah Musa and Inspector Yusuf Gambo, both of the SID—survived with varying degrees of injuries.
Bauchi State– Terrorists on Friday gunned down five police officers during an ambush in Sabon Sara village, Darazo Local Government Area.
The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued by its spokesperson, CSP Ahmed Wakil, who described the attack as “heinous” and a tragic reminder of the security challenges confronting the region.
According to Wakil, the officers—drawn from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), the 10 PMF Bauchi Mobile Police Unit, the Anti-Kidnapping Unit (AKU), and the State Intelligence Department (SID)—were on a visibility patrol aimed at preventing farmer–herder clashes when they were ambushed by unidentified armed youths.
He said the attack occurred at about 11:30 a.m. on November 22, 2025, moments after the command received intelligence from a Good Samaritan warning of suspicious movements in the area.
“Sadly, the ambush attack resulted in the death of the following officers: DSP Ahmad Muhammad (SID), ASP Mustapha Muhammad (10 PMF), Inspector Amarhel Yunusa (10 PMF), Inspector Idris Ahmed (10 PMF), and Corporal Isah Muazu (AKU),” Wakil stated.
Two other officers—Inspector Isah Musa and Inspector Yusuf Gambo, both of the SID—survived with varying degrees of injuries.
Upon receiving the distress situation, the Divisional Police Officer of Darazo, SP Auwalu Ilu, mobilised a reinforcement team that stormed the scene, evacuated the wounded, and retrieved the bodies of the fallen officers.
The injured were rushed to the General Hospital in Darazo for treatment, while the remains of the deceased were deposited at the hospital morgue.
Wakil added that several bandits were also “neutralised” during the exchange, though the exact number was not disclosed.
He assured the public that an aggressive manhunt had been launched to track and apprehend the perpetrators.
“Intense efforts are ongoing to arrest the criminals responsible for this heinous act. The Command remains fully committed to ensuring justice for our fallen heroes,” he said.
The incident marks one of the deadliest attacks on security personnel in the state in recent months, heightening concerns over rising banditry across northern Nigeria.
