RRS Rescues 59-Year-Old Man From Suicide Attempt Over Hardship On Lagos Third Mainland Bridge
The man, one Yemi, aged 59 of Ilasa, Lagos stated that he was overwhelmed by challenges.
Ikeja, Lagos State- Operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) from the Lagos State Police Command have rescued a 59-year-old man, identified as Yemi, from committing suicide on the Third Mainland Bridge.
It was gathered that RRS patrol officers noticed a distressed man standing dangerously close to the edge of the bridge.
Acting promptly, the operatives approached Yemi, who was visibly agitated and engaged him in a conversation to calm him down.
RRS made this known in a post it shared on its official Facebook page, on Friday.
It stated that at about 1200hrs today, Rapid Response Squad (RRS) bike riders on routine patrol on the Third Mainland Bridge prevented a man from jumping into the lagoon.
According to the statement, “The man, one Yemi, aged 59 of Ilasa, Lagos stated that he was overwhelmed by challenges.”
Meanwhile, Commander RRS, CSP Shola Jejeloye has counselled the suspect and has directed him to be kept in protective custody pending the arrival of his family members.
