Rivers Women Protest Says ‘Heat’ Causes Spouses To Shun Nighttime Touch

We no longer have romance and conjugal relationships with our husbands because of so much heat

Port-Harcourt, Rivers State–  A group of women from Rivers State converged outside the Port Harcourt Electricity Distribution Company (PHED) office on Tuesday, to protest what they described as unbearable heat causing disruptions in their marriage.

The women marched with placards with inscriptions like ‘No Electricity, No Bill’, ‘Excessive Heat is Unbearable’, and more. They voiced concerns that their husbands refrain from intimacy at night due to the heat, expressing frustration over the inability to store cooked food for extended periods due to frequent power cuts.

The women also stated that their businesses had been halted because of inadequate electricity supply.

The spokesperson for the demonstrators, Maria Ike, said; “We have decided to let the world know what we are passing through in the hands of PHED. The poor supply in our area is at zero level despite the fact that we pay monthly bills to PHED.
