Residents Raise Alarm As Armed Herdsman Roams Kano Streets In Broad Daylight
He was accompanied by livestock, including sheep and rams, as he walked freely on the main road, drawing the attention of passersby
Kano State– Residents of Kano State have been thrown into fear and confusion after a herdsman was spotted openly walking along a major road in the state in broad daylight while carrying an AK-47 rifle.
In a short video obtained by Afrkka Eyes, the unidentified man was seen moving confidently along the road with the rifle casually slung on his shoulder.
He was accompanied by livestock, including sheep and rams, as he walked freely on the main road, drawing the attention of passersby.
The footage, which has since circulated widely on social media, shows several residents stopping to stare at the armed man as he passed, with no visible intervention from security operatives.
The calm and unchallenged manner in which the herdsman carried the weapon has further heightened public concern.
A male voice speaking in Hausa could be heard in the background of the video, expressing shock and frustration over the situation.
He said, “This is what we are now seeing while rearing animals.” He went further to lament about as a growing and troubling trend, adding, “Even here in Kano, we have started seeing strangers.”
Following the emergence of the video, residents have called on the Kano State Government and relevant security agencies to act swiftly and decisively.
They are demanding immediate investigations and strict action against any herdsmen or individuals found roaming the state with firearms.
Concerned citizens insist that allowing armed individuals to move freely on public roads undermines the rule of law and could embolden criminal elements.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the Kano State Government nor security authorities had issued an official statement regarding the incident.
