Pregnant Woman Brutally Murdered By Suspected Ritualists In Kwara Community
The incident occurred on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Temidire, a rural settlement in Egbejila, Ilorin.
Ilorin, Kwara State– A pregnant woman has been gruesomely murdered by suspected ritualists in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital.
The incident occurred on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Temidire, a rural settlement in Egbejila, Ilorin.
The victim, whose identity is yet to be confirmed, was reportedly killed and dismembered in circumstances that raised strong suspicion of ritual killing.
Eyewitnesses revealed that the discovery of her mutilated body bore similarities to a recent ritual case in Ilorin involving a self-proclaimed cleric, Abdulrahaman Bello, who murdered Yetunde Lawal, a final-year student of Kwara State College of Education, for body parts.
Residents of Temidire community said the deceased had been alone at home on Wednesday night, while her husband, a trader in agricultural chemicals and equipment, was away in a border town in Kwara North.
The shocking murder has left the community in fear, with many calling on security agencies to intensify surveillance and bring the perpetrators to justice.
SaharaReporters quoted a resident of the area as saying that eyewitnesses claimed the woman was expecting a visitor that evening. She was reportedly seen buying bottles of beer and plates of pepper soup before going back inside.
“By dawn, suspicion arose when a neighbour reportedly confronted a man, believed to be her husband’s younger brother, leaving the house with a black nylon bag.
“The liquid trail, on closer inspection, turned out to be blood. Alarm was raised immediately, drawing other members of the community.
“Horrifically, body parts suspected to belong to the victim, including an arm, a leg and entrails, were later discovered in nearby bushes but the head was nowhere to be found.”
The discovery of her body has reportedly sparked panic in the community, with many residents suspecting ritual motives and reigniting long-standing ethnic tensions.
According to police sources, the case has been moved from the Budo Nuhu Divisional Headquarters along Airport Road to the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) in Ilorin for further investigation.
